MLB world infuriated with NYC Mayor after epic Yankees fail

A victory and the sounds of “New York, New York” greeted New York Yankees fans on MLB Opening Day. But Yankee fans and others around the MLB world who watched the broadcast were infuriated after the Mayor of New York City committed an epic fail.

The YES Network broadcast booth brought Mayor Eric Adams in for a special segment. Adams expressed that he was happy to be there to root for the Yankees. The only problem? He didn’t name the stadium correctly, referring to the big ballpark in The Bronx as “Yankee Park.”

“And when you look out here to Yankee Park,” Adams said, before going onto make a good point about the diverse collection of fans at the stadium. But that point was immediately lost in misnaming the stadium.

Observers on Twitter were quick to pounce on the NYC Mayor after the epic gaffe.

“Go easy on him. He just endured subway ride from Madison Square Field,” joked one fan.

“Really ‘Wrigley Stadium’ vibes,” joked Chris Dobbertean of Blogging The Bracket.

Luckily for Adams, his mistake didn’t lead to any bad juju at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees defeated the San Francisco Giants 5-0 as Aaron Judge homered and Gerritt Cole shattered the team’s Opening Day record for strikeouts with 11.
