The New York Yankees enter their matchup with the Los Angeles Angels on Monday skidding offensively. But thankfully, one of the best power hitters in all of baseball is finally gearing up for his return after missing the entirety of the 2025 MLB season thus far.
Over the weekend, Yankees bats struggled mightily to provide much production at all against the pitching staff of the Boston Red Sox. In the three game series, the Yankees produced just four runs, losing each game in a series sweep against the Red Sox.
On the season, the Yankees have been one of the best offenses in all of baseball, producing the third most runs offensively of any team in baseball. So clearly, they will be looking to get back to the level of production they have produced all season long on Monday against the Angels.
What should help them do this is the return of designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton, who has yet to take the field this season due to tendon injuries in both elbows that landed him on the IL at the start of the year.
According to ESPN’s Jorge Castillo, Stanton is set to make his season debut on Monday for the Yankees after a three-game rehab stint in for Double-A Somerset last week.
Stanton has shown to be one of the best power hitters in all of baseball over the last decade, hitting 429 home runs over the course of his illustrious career thus far.
Last season, Stanton played a huge role in the Yankees postseason run to the World Series, which resulted in hime being named the ALCS MVP.
At 35 years of age coming off a significant injury in his elbows, it will be interesting to see whether Stanton is the same player as he has shown to be over the course of his career. But at least on paper, his return should provide a much-needed jolt to a floundering Yankees offense as of late.
