Former American president Donald Trump has made a habit of attending UFC fights in his post-presidency.
Though Trump wasn’t in attendance Saturday night at UFC 291 in Salt Lake City, he still took time out of his hectic schedule to send a clear message to Justin Gaethje, who knocked out Dustin Poirier in their rematch featured as the card’s main event.

It was sweet revenge for Gaethje, who suffered a TKO loss to Poirier in April 14th during the two’s first fight. The win was made even sweeter by Trump calling Gaethje to congratulate him on the win after the fight.
Gaethje told TMZ Sports that the call was “awesome.”
“He [expletive] loves fighting, man,” the UFC warrior said of Trump. “He loves it.”
Gaethje relayed that Trump was proud of his performance and commented on how “impressive of a show it was” against the well-respected Poirier.
Trump told Gaethje “hopefully they could golf” sometime, and the UFC fighter told Trump that he wanted to tee it up with him whenever he traveled to New York or Florida next.
As TMZ Sports notes, Gaethje and Trump have a long and storied connection. Gaethje attended a Trump rally in 2020, and the then-president shouted him out during the speech. It’s obviously a connection the two still maintain.
