Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz may fight again.

According to Jeremy Botter of FloSports, it’s “99%” done that the duo will square off again in the main event of UFC 202.

Diaz handed McGregor his first UFC loss at UFC 196 in one of the biggest upset in the sport’s history. McGregor was a heavy favorite, but Diaz shocked him taking down the Ireland native via submission.

McGregor confused the UFC world a month later, announcing his retirement from the sport – which he later rescinded. Fighting Diaz would give McGregor a chance to win his pride back, although losing to him once again would definitely hurt his legacy. It would be a great potential matchup. Considering the mess the UFC and McGregor appeared to be in, it would be great to see them resolve the situation and schedule the fight.

The news comes after the insane reports that McGregor is stepping away from the Octagon to square off in a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather. Those reports have been universally dismissed. Although, bizarrely, Floyd Mayweather Sr. has confirmed the fight, but that could just be posturing. McGregor returning to fight Diaz makes much more sense.

There’s been no official event location announced for the potential fight, but UFC 202 will take place on August 20th. If the reports are true and McGregor and Diaz to square off one more time, it’s going to be epic, must-watch TV.
