Seattle SuperSonics fans were devastated when their team relocated, with the franchise ultimately becoming what is now known as the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, many Sonics fans have always held out hope that one day they’d get their team back, similarly to how the Cleveland Browns returned after becoming the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL.
That hope may finally be starting to pay off, according to one prominent NBA-centric Twitter account.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Wrst kept secret in sports. Vegas getting a team and super sonics coming back. Moving Memphis and Minnesota to the (Eastern Conference),” someone else added.
“If they finally put a team back in Seattle they get the Supersonics name back, right? Or is there something blocking that?” one fan wanted to know.
“If Seattle returns, Las Vegas will be coming too. Its going to be a 32-team league by 2030 imo, or at least those two teams could be introduced as teams coming to the league,” one fan added.
If the Seattle Seahawks can defeat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX and the SuperSonics’ return is officially announced, 2026 might have an argument as the greatest sports year in Seattle history.
