Austin Rivers might not be coached by his dad Doc anymore, but that doesn’t mean the Houston Rockets guard won’t stick up for him.

On Saturday, Rivers was walking through the Rockets tunnel when a heckler yelled, “Your dad sucks at coaching.” Rivers immediately turned around and confronted the dude, saying “Huh, say something?” The heckler immediately turtled and said he didn’t say anything.

Why the ‘fan’ thought it was a good idea to make disparaging marks about the Los Angeles Clippers head coach to Austin is beyond me. Rivers played for his pops from 2015-2018 until he was traded last June. Doc doesn’t suck as a coach. He’s led his teams to 11 straight playoff appearances, including winning the NBA Championship with Boston back in 2008. Sure, his GM work warrants some criticism. But, there’s a time and a place to do that in a respectful manner. This wasn’t it.

Worst of all, the heckler couldn’t even back up his words. He wanted nothing to do with Rivers when he was confronted. He’s a coward. Good on Rivers for calling the guy out.
