While there’s plenty of speculation over who is going to potentially buy the Washington Commanders from Dan Synder, there is also rampant speculation over who will eventually buy the Phoenix Suns. One of the people rumored to be in the running just so happens to be former U.S. President Barack Obama.
Ever since it was announced that disgraced owner Robert Sarver would sell the Suns, NBA fans have been speculating about who might be able to do it. Just like he is for every pro sports franchise, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos is among those rumored. Some of the other rumored potential suitors include Oracle co-founder and former CEO Larry Ellison, former Disney CEO Bob Iger, and Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.
Another name that’s been thrown into the mix for the Suns’ ownership? Barack Obama.

Obama was on the campaign trail in Arizona on Monday and he was asked about the rumors that he might be joining a Phoenix Suns ownership group. He kinda sorta denies it but also leaves the door open.
“It is good to be back in Arizona,” Obama said. “I wanted to come out here, not only because it’s sunny and warm, but also, you know, there have been these rumors about me and the Phoenix Suns. I didn’t know I was in the market, and by the way, neither did Michelle, but I will say this, the Suns are looking pretty good,” Obama added. “I gotta admit that. I think they have a few more wins than my Bulls right now.”

Obviously, Obama didn’t want to distract from why he was in Arizona in the first place, but it will be interesting to see if the former President does end up being part of an ownership group, for the Suns or another pro sports franchise.
