The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently up 1-0 in their Western Conference Semifinals showdown with the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets.

There are a lot of people out there saying that Anthony Edwards and the T’Wolves have officially dethroned the champs with a statement Game 1 victory.

However, Bomani Jones isn’t buying the idea that Denver and Nikola Jokić are remotely out of it, and lambasts anyone who has written off the defending champions.

“Why do you all insist on forgetting who the champs are?” asked Jones on The Right Time with Bomani Jones. “Why do you insist on forgetting who, right now, is the king of all of this? Why in the world do you forget that it’s Denver and everybody else until further notice cause they earnt that right.”

Jones doesn’t think the Nuggets are “in trouble” until they’re down 3-0, but he thinks its folly to count them out, especially when Edwards probably won’t have the same kind of performance in the future as he did in Game 1. Plus, he sees Minnesota as “one of the dumbest teams in the NBA” prone to dumb fouls and other issues.

“Enjoy that game. That game was great,” said Jones. “But respect the champs. That means something. That matters.”
