It looks like Bronny James, the son of NBA megastar LeBron James, is turning heads in high school just like his father did. Bronny is one of the top players in the 2023 high school recruiting class, and he put his skills and athleticism on display this week.
In a video that has since gone viral, Bronny took a pass from one of his teammates, then took the ball coast-to-coast, dribbling to the left side of the key before unleashing a showstopping dunk with his right hand, all while a hapless defender tried to swat the ball.

Bronny‘s dunk was an unbelievable play for anyone, but especially for a high school player that stands at only 6-foot-3. So naturally, it caught the attention of the NBA world, who reacted on Twitter with astonishment at the 17-year-old’s athleticism.

Bronny James gets going downhill here and explodes for a nice one-handed finish – great body control here. Jumping off left leg on left side of the basket, rotating up body and flushing with his right hand (thru contact). Nice playpic.twitter.com/BM0yYACpzt

I cannot imagine doing this in highschool or basically any stage of life if we're being honest https://t.co/xSrpIP8cLB

Bronny is currently ranked as the No. 7 shooting guard and No. 43 overall high school prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. While Bronny has been quiet about his plans after high school, On3 reports that Ohio State, UCLA and USC are the three schools actively recruiting the four-star prospect.
Regardless of Bronny’s future plans, LeBron James has made it clear that he wants to play with his son in the NBA. And if Bronny keeps making plays like this, it’s looking like that’s a strong possibility.
