The Brooklyn Nets faced off against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, and some insane stats about the game highlight just how horrible the Nets have performed in the game.

It wasn’t particularly close from beginning to end in the matchup, with the Celtics jumping out to a massive 30-point lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Celtics’ three-point shooting was particularly outstanding, finishing the quarter 7-9 on three-point attempts to ultimately take a 46-16 into the second quarter over the Nets.

Hilariously, Celtics star Jayson Tatum actually outscored the Nets team as a whole with 18 points in the quarter. This first-quarter performance by Boston also tied the organization’s highest point differential in any quarter in the shot clock era.

Things did not get any better for the Nets, as they ultimately fell 139-96 in a game that was never competitive from the start.

The Nets came into the game as the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, Boston has consistently been atop the Eastern Conference as the No. 1 seed.

Most would think that this profile as a great matchup between the class of the Eastern Conference, but fans clearly noticed that there is a massive gap separating these two teams.

For the Nets, this loss marks the fifth-largest margin of a defeat in the history of the organization. Perhaps the only positive that can be taken away from this loss is that they were certainly not at full strength.

Star forward Kevin Durant has been out for Brooklyn since suffering a sprained MCL early in January. Chances are this matchup would have looked extremely different if he were able to suit up.

Regardless, this is a game that Brooklyn Nets fans would like to erase from their memory if given the chance.
