Former Alabama point guard Mark Sears was named a unanimous First Team All-American after a truly special year, which had some expecting for Sears to hear his name called in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft on Thursday night.
Unfortunately for Sears, that didn’t happen. But it didn’t take long for NBA teams to show their interest in bringing in Sears. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Sears has agreed to a two-way NBA deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.

An obvious reason why Sears may have slipped in the draft is his less-than-ideal size for the NBA level, standing at just 6’1”. But what Sears lacks in size compared to some NBA point guards, he makes up for with elite scoring ability and steady playmaking skills.
We’ve seen undersized guards thrive at the NBA level before. While someone like Jalen Brunson is slightly taller than Sears, he would be a good player to model his own game after as he tries to pave his way at the NBA level.
Only time will tell whether Sears ends up having even a portion of the same success he had at Alabama at the NBA level. But if it does work out, Sears could certainly be an important piece for the Bucks for years to come.
