Buddy Hield was one of, if not the most exciting player in college basketball this past season.

During his Senior year at Oklahoma, Hield was named the Sporting News Men’s College Basketball Player of the Year and won the Oscar Robertson Trophy, the John R. Wooden Award and was named the Naismith College Player of the Year.

In a recent NBA mock draft by Scott Howard-Cooper at NBA.com, Hield is projected to go seventh overall to the Denver Nuggets.

However, the third overall pick belongs to the Boston Celtics and they just saw Hield do something maybe only Steph Curry and Klay Thompson could do.

That’s just absurd.

This past season for the Sooners, Hield shot 45.7& from three, which was a little better than Curry’s 45.4% and Thompson’s 42.5% during the regular season. In five NCAA Tournament games, Hield shot 41.6% from beyond the arc.

During March Madness, Hield is remembered for dropping 36 in the Round of 32 against VCU and 37 in the Elite 8 against Oregon. En route to 36 points against the Rams, Hield went 6-14 from three. Against the Ducks, Hield 8-13 from downtown en route to those 37 points.

Specifically, that VCU game when Hield also had 29 points in the second was where he really cemented his top-ten pick legitimacy.

The Boston Celtics have the third pick in the draft, so it’s safe to assume they won’t be able to grab Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram. But after watching Hield go 85-100 from three at a pre-draft work out, one has to wonder if they’ll take the Sooner third overall.
