The Cleveland Cavaliers start their first-round series against the Toronto Raptors on Saturday, and are hopeful about finding the playoff success that has eluded the franchise since LeBron James’s departure.
This season saw the Cavs go all in and make a trade to acquire former MVP James Harden in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers to pair him with Donovan Mitchell. However, if Mitchell isn’t prepared to sign with Cleveland long-term, the franchise is reportedly planning to move on.
“The Cleveland Cavaliers will discuss the possibility of TRADING Donovan Mitchell this summer if he does NOT sign a contract extension, per (Fred Katz),” Fullcourtpass reported on Twitter on Friday.

Fans reacted to the report on social media.
“Here comes another season where miami trolls their fans into thinking we getting someone,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“would do it. Give him and Bam 3 years. Get some depth off the bench. Him and Bam still young enough to give you decent window. No real injury concerns,” one Heat fan added.
“Something to monitor for a team that already had massive expectations heading into the playoffs. Pressure just went up a notchm” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if another early playoff exit leads to massive organizational changes for the Cavs.
