Grant Williams missing game-winning free throw.

The Boston Celtics took on Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night in a game that went down to the wire. Celtics forward Grant Williams had a chance to win the game at the free-throw line with less than a second remaining. A moment with Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell before the free throw attempt led to a horrible disaster.

Mitchell and Williams got into each other’s faces before the attempts. The two were talking trash to each other, which led to Grant Williams making an extremely bold proclamation.

He told Mitchell that he was going to make both free throws. This may have ultimately made him overthink this pressure-filled moment.

Williams did not hold up his end of the bargain, missing both free throws to allow the Cavaliers to attempt to win the game in overtime.

This brutal choke by Williams ultimately came back to cost the Celtics. They would go on to lose, 118-114, in overtime.

Many around the NBA world took notice of Williams’ extreme overconfidence and absolutely blasted him for guaranteeing he would make the free throws.

It is pretty much a no-win scenario to guarantee a make. If you do make it, you did what was expected. When you don’t, it is a moment that you will never live down, which is exactly what Grant Williams is feeling at the moment.
