Charles Barkley

On ESPN’s “First Take” Wednesday, NBA analyst JJ Reddick made an argument for Ja Morant and defended his actions.

Stephen A. Smith also chimed in, agreeing with Reddick on his points.

Charles Barkley blasted both men — and Morant — Wednesday night on TNT’s pregame show.

“We got some idiots, some fools, some ********* on television that really just **** me off, talking about Ja should make a stand by saying he didn’t break any laws, he didn’t do anything wrong. Those guys are just freaking idiots,” Barkley said. “When you’re making $100 million a year to play sports, your life changes. There are certain rules and regulations that you have to live by. You can’t do stupid stuff. That’s the tradeoff.”

Here’s a link to the NSFW video of Barkley’s comments.

Morant was suspended by the NBA, yet Reddick’s argument asked why Morant was being punished for his actions when he technically wasn’t doing anything illegal (Tennessee is an open carry state) and why are we jumping on a 23-year-old player when there are government officials posing with guns all the time?

While Reddick made a legit argument, Barkley’s argument about accountability may be a little bit stronger and that’s something that Morant has really yet to do despite his apologies.

NBA fans cheered Barkley for his take on the issue.
