Add the Los Angeles Clippers to the growing list of teams interested in Kyrie Irving.

The Brooklyn Nets star dominated NBA headlines Friday after a report said he is demanding a trade, preferably by the Feb. 9 trade deadline. The Los Angeles LakersPhoenix Suns, and Dallas Mavericks quickly emerged as possible destinations.

Now the Clippers have joined the chase, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The team has been seeking help at point guard. For all the considerable baggage Irving brings, he is still a phenomenally talented player. The 30-year-old guard is averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game this season.

Despite the Clippers’ reported interest, the ESPN report seemed to indicate the Lakers are the current favorite to land Irving. The report notes, “LeBron James is an immense proponent of making a deal for his former Cavaliers teammate and the Lakers are operating as a motivated suitor for Irving, sources said.”

NBA fans reacted with mixed feelings to the latest update on the Irving sweepstakes.

“The Clippers have the most to offer Brooklyn and it doesn’t come in the form of mostly draft capital — it’s in immediate assets,” tweeted Ashley Nicole Moss.

“Everybody wants Kyrie now lol all the media sites was like he has no value no teams would want him,” tweeted Nets Kingdom.
