The sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals proved one of two things.
1. The Lakers are primed for huge success next season and in the years to come.
2. The Lakers are an aging mess with questions up and down the roster, and they need to cut ties with superstar Anthony Davis, among other players.
While NBA fans on Twitter could not agree on what the Lakers’ future holds, the question sparked some serious debate.
The topic has been boiling for weeks, as several offseason decisions are looming. What should the team do about key pending free agents Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves, and Dennis Schroder? Should the team pursue Kyrie Irving? What should they do about Davis, who pulled a disappearing act in the conference finals?
Many Lakers fans were actually pleased with their team’s postseason run. Despite the sweep by the Nuggets, the No. 7 seed Lakers overachieved to make it one step from the NBA Finals.
Those fans tended to be more optimistic about the future. The debate over the team’s destiny and what steps it needs to take in the offseason won’t be settled on Twitter, but it definitely made for great entertainment Monday night.
Beasley being unplayable in the playoffs really hurt the Lakers. Very interested to see what decisions the Lakers make in the off-season. Feels like Lakers have to bring back everyone just for future trade space.

Well this is it. This quarter should determine AD’s future with the Lakers.
He might have to go…along with DLo🤷🏽♂️

Extremely proud of the Los Angeles Lakers man
Started 2-10, and made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals and had a chance to win every game
Ran into a juggernaut that consistently made impossible shots
Future is bright

Warriors and lakers dynasties are over. Kings, nuggets and Grizz are the future of the western conference.

AD has become incredibly unreliable, don’t know if he’s the future of this franchise. no way any other top 10 big man has on and off games this consistently across 3 different series

I’m proud of my Lakers this year BUT the future does not look good for us unless we get a YOUNG star. We can’t keep relying on old man Bron & cooked AD

But at the end of the day, Lakers’ future is bright. Austin and Rui should stay in LA. 🙏

And there were a couple of posts from fans claiming to be from the future. Here’s one to note in case you’re making any friendly wagers.
Just got back from the future. Lakers got swept. Ham got fired. Celtics got the series to 3-2 before losing because of a Tatum stinker in game 6. Oh yea btw mahomes won another ring.
