NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman is one of the most unique and outspoken characters in the history of the league. He has never been afraid to be himself.
We got another example of that this week, when Rodman took to Instagram and posted a picture from a Pride parade in Houston. In the picture, Rodman is wearing a black hat, a black shirt with a picture of himself from his playing days, and a green and blue plaid skirt.

“Love will Always win,” he captioned the photo. “Happy Pride.”
However, the pro-LGTBQ content angered many of Rodman’s followers who voiced their displeasure in the comments section. As the criticism began to pile up, Rodman returned to Instagram to clap back at the haters via Instagram Stories.
“Do your research guys,” he wrote, “#beenhim.”
As Fox News noted, the words were posted atop a collage showing “various pictures of Rodman during the prime of his NBA career wearing a wedding dress and other outfits that were deemed controversial for the time.”
Rodman has long been an advocate for gay rights. He spoke to Business Insider in 2019 about his iconic Sports Illustrated cover in 1995.
“They didn’t know the fact that when [they] shot that cover for the Sports Illustrated that that was the best-selling Sports Illustrated ever,” Rodman said. “And then the gay community started to reach out to me and said, ‘Wow, we never knew that our community can be represented like that in sports.’ And people didn’t know at the time that I was doing that.”
Rodman never saw the big deal.
“I was, you know, doing all the drag clubs, I was dressing in drag. I was dressing in women’s clothes. I was doing lingerie and stuff like that and people in the gay community started embracing me,” he said.
Needless to say, anyone shocked by Rodman’s Instagram post is not familiar with his history within the NBA.
