Richard Jefferson has had one heck of a career, spanning some 15 years in the NBA. But, he had yet to win the one thing everyone that plays in The Association wants to win: an NBA championship.

That ended with the Cleveland Cavaliers winning Game 7 of the NBA Finals, and Jefferson had a hand in bringing the city of Cleveland its long-awaited first championship in 52 years. Following the win, Jefferson was telling anyone and everyone that he was retiring after hitting the top of the basketball mountain.

However, fans have a funny power of persuasion… perhaps even greater than teammates may have at times. It seems as if that may have worked to keep Jefferson from actually retiring… or something like that.

Fans at the championship parade began chanting “One more year” at the NBA veteran, and he replied, “If you guys want me to play one more year, I’ll play one more  year.”

Jefferson was far from a 12th man for the Cavs this season, and with a salary cap expected to hit $96 million, he could be in for one last major pay day.

Whatever he ultimately decides, clearly the emotion of winning a NBA championship and the fans’ outpouring of love have Jefferson torn as to what to actually do. Don’t be surprised to see him take some time away before making an actual decision.
