Dwyane Wade was drafted by the Miami Heat in 2003. After 13 long seasons in South Beach, Wade signed a deal this offseason to play for his hometown Chicago Bulls.

However, after 13 years with one team, Wade got used to seeing himself in Heat gear. As a result, he’s been wearing Bulls’ gear daily to get himself used to it.

Here’s the full quote:

“I may be a little different because I grew up a Bulls fan. So, when I put on Chicago Bulls basketball gear, which I’ve put on every day since I got the gear because I’m trying to get used to it as well. Don’t get me wrong — but it rings a little different in my ear than probably it rings to the rest of the world.”

Whatever floats your boat and makes you more comfortable, I guess? Wearing the uniform would presumably feel different than looking at a Photoshopped image.

The Chicago native hasn’t been introduced by the Bulls yet, and won’t be until the end of July. The veteran is scheduled to go on a promotional trip for his shoes to China soon and will be introduced when he gets back.

Also in his interview with Variety where he talked about wearing Bulls gear all the time, Wade reflected on his ESPYs speech with Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, and LeBron James.

“We’ve got a lot of flak over the years for even being friends,” Wade said. “In some weird world, guys who compete against each other can’t have nothing in common, can’t like each other and can’t be friends. We’ve went against that and we have a special connection and bond. We’ve always said these words: It’s bigger than basketball for our friendship and our relationship. You never know what that means until a moment like yesterday comes about.”
