On Monday night, a fan attending the NBA game between the Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz decided it would be cool to bring a laser pointer and shine it on Rockets star James Harden as he was setting up for a foul shot.

The refs stopped the game to take care of the fan interference, as Harden looked into the crowd for the mischievous fan. Security handled the situation and escorted the fan from the area.

“Some guy was lasering me,” Harden said, per The Houston Chronicle. “I saw it the first time and I thought it was a picture being taken. I went to the foul line again and it happened again. The referee (Tom Washington) caught it before I did. That’s the first time that happened to me.”

Being ejected from the game itself was just the beginning of the punishment for the unnamed fan. The NBA banned the fan from all basketball arenas for one year.

I can’t help but read this news and not hear The Soup Nazi from Seinfeld delivering the sentence (assuming he is not working at George’s Bar in Australia). No NBA for you! One Year!
