Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan reaches 20,000 points.

Chicago Bulls star DeMar DeRozan reached the remarkable milestone of scoring 20,000 points in his NBA career during Friday night’s game at the San Antonio Spurs. He’s the 50th player in NBA history to score 20,000 points.

And after DeRozan reached his 20,000th career point, the opposing coach called a timeout so that DeRozan could be honored for the achievement.

Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich called a timeout and the PA announcer enthusiastically told fans in attendance at the AT&T Center about DeRozan’s milestone. DeRozan received a standing ovation.

That’s a very cool and classy moment. DeRozan starred for the Spurs from 2018-21, and Popovich and San Antonio clearly have a ton of respect for him. And coming from Popovich (one of the greatest coaches in NBA history), that’s quite the honor.

DeRozan is still playing at a superstar level for the Bulls at age 33, so he may continue reaching new incredible scoring milestones. He had 14 points in the first half of Friday night’s game.
