Charlotte Hornets center Kai Jones wants to set the record straight: He was not on drugs or intoxicated last week during an Instagram Live post where he appeared to be, um, not well in a rant about trade rumors involving him.

So Jones went on Twitter to explain the situation.

“I was not on drugs or intoxicated I was enjoying my night in my crib y’all bugging💯💕🦋🐐 #GOATLIFE” Jones wrote on Twitter.

That is certainly good to know, because the 22-year-old big man’s behavior worried many people. For those who missed it, here’s Jones’ original social media post that caused such a stir.

Jones, who went No. 19 overall to the New York Knicks out of Texas in 2021, saw a big bump in playing time last season. He averaged 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 12 minutes per game.

NBA fans were somehow both reassured, yet not reassured at all, after Jones’ explanation.

“His PR team took that long to come up with that?” asked David Bermudez on Twitter.
