Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been out of action during the past week due to knee soreness. It sounds like he’s going to be on the sidelines for a few more weeks as well, according to his coach.

Per Shams Charania, Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins says that Morant’s knee will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Jenkins said the team does expect Morant back before the NBA playoffs.

“We expect him to make a full recovery before the playoffs, and we’re excited about that with two and a half weeks left in the season,” Jenkins told reporters, according to the Commercial Appeal. “We’ll offload him early, then he’ll start reloading pretty soon here with that two weeks in mind to reevaluate.”

The 22-year-old has put up MVP-caliber numbers this season, averaging 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game. He’s also led the Grizzlies to a 50-23 record, which currently puts them second in the Western Conference standings.

The good news for the Grizzlies is that they are 15-2 this season without Morant. However, their schedule gets tough in the coming weeks with six of their last eight games against teams likely to make the playoffs.

Morant doesn’t seem too bothered by the prognosis, at least according to his tweets.

Grizz fans will now circle April 7 on the calendar, which would be two weeks from now and features a Memphis game against the Denver Nuggets. In the meantime, the NBA world is concerned about Morant’s knees and hopeful for the future.
