The Milwaukee Bucks have largely been happy with what they have gotten out of Jason Kidd since his tenure in Brew City started in 2014, and they expressed as much by extending his contract Monday.

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Bucks and Kidd have agreed to an $18 million deal over three years:

Kidd missed 17 games this past season after undergoing surgery on his right hip. The team was went 8-9 in his absence under interim coach and lead assistant Joe Prunty.

The team took a step back from last season, losing eight more games than they did in the previous year. Although they took a step back, the team had some new pieces, and experimented with their current talent. The team saw a big improvement when allowing the 6-foot-11 Giannis Antetokounmpo take over at point guard, which was electrifying to watch.

Their biggest improvement that will need to be made in the offseason is arguably on the defensive end. After being one of the best defensive teams in the league during the 2014-15 season, they took a big step back in 2015-16. But if they’re able to pull it all together, there’s no reason they can’t contend in the Eastern Conference.

Their first step in turning things around will be to capitalize on their 10th overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft on June 23.
