Just days after being named the Los Angeles Lakers’ new head coach, JJ Redick is now facing allegations he made racist remarks when he was a player for the Duke Blue Devils.
Halleemah Nash, an activist, and Duke alum said on social media that she has only been called the N-word once in her life, and it was by Redick.
“I’ve only been called the N-word to my face by a white man once in my life, and it was on the campus of Duke University while I was doing work with the basketball team. And today, he was named the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. What a world.”
Some people wonder why Nash would make this statement now, especially knowing how it could have impacted Redick’s career years ago had it come out earlier. But others believe her.
A lot of people are too young to remember JJ at Duke but those who can, probably aren't too shocked by this story

But this is not the first time Redick has been accused of making racial slurs. A few years ago, a story came out that Redick called his ex-girlfriend the N-word in an email he sent to her. It’s no secret that during his days at Duke, Redick was one of the most hated players in America, there is even a report that the late Kobe Bryant hated him but throughout his time in the NBA, it didn’t seem like his teammates or opponents had an issue with him.
However, if these allegations turn out to be true, the Lakers may have a problem. Redick denies these latest allegations.
