The Los Angeles Lakers have superstar LeBron James on the roster, as well as his son Bronny, the first time a father and son have ever played together in the history of the league.

Many are excited to see Bronny live up to the massive name on the back of his jersey. However, it would appear that his head coach, JJ Redick, doesn’t see quite that legendary of a career in his future, and wants the younger James to focus on maximizing his potential as a role player.

“JJ Redick wants Bronny James to study the games of Davion Mitchell and T.J. McConnell ‘On every single possession, they’re in the game — whether that’s offensively or defensively — they’re able to impact it with how hard they play. With the defensive pickup points, the disruption, being able to get downhill … I think we have all seen these amazing flashes of it from Bronny. And to get to that next level for him, it’s cardio fitness,'” the coach said, according to ESPN.

Fans reacted to Redick’s words on social media.

“He needs to improve his motor consistently he’s still kinda too nonchalant out there alot,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“Great advice. But let’s not forget the best teacher is at home: LeBron. Study his IQ, work ethic, and two-way dominance. The blueprint is right there,” wrote someone else.

“I think Bronny could crack the rotation if he stays on this trajectory. Defensive pest definitely needs to be on his resume,” one fan added.

“If pride is present, bronny won’t do it. But if he uses this as motivation to prove himself worthy to play in the nba (carve his own path), he can be a lot better and upgrade to star level. Since ppl are already expecting for him to be superstar/talented just because of his dad,” another fan added.

It’ll be interesting to see if Bronny takes his head coach’s advice.
