Joe Lacob wasn’t short on confidence on Tuesday. The Golden State Warriors’ owner spoke about the new collective bargaining agreement coming for the NBA soon as the team saw general manager Bob Myers exit the franchise. It didn’t sound like the new CBA would hinder the Warriors’ pursuit of a fifth title this century.

The Warriors have been among the most successful teams in the NBA under Lacob’s ownership. They won three titles in four years from 2015-2018 and then won their fourth of the 2000s in 2022. Even under new rules, Lacob expects the team to finish the job anyway.

In fact, he was very matter-of-fact about it.

“We’re gonna win no matter what; I don’t care what the rules are,” Lacob said. “We are gonna figure out a way to do it. That’s what good organizations do: They figure out a way to win the game, and our game is to win games. And to win championships.”

With all the Warriors’ success, it’s not a surprise to see how confident Lacob is. The Warriors will need to re-tool, just like everybody else, but as long as Steph Curry is there, the team probably has a significant chance of making noise. They will continue to evolve, no matter what the rules are. If they keep getting it right, that could still spell trouble for the rest of the NBA.
