During the offseason, NBA megastar Kevin Durant caused quite a stir over the offseason when he shockingly requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. Durant ultimately made a few ultimatums to the team before eventually agreeing to return to the Nets this season. But with Durant now the source of trade rumors once again, he got really honest about what it’s been like leading the Nets this season.

In an interview with Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, Kevin Durant got brutally honest about the unfair expectations placed upon him by fans and media, taking some subtle shots at his Brooklyn Nets teammates in the process. Given the Nets’ current lineup, Durant believes that he is the primary reason anybody expects the team to win.

“Look at our starting lineup. Edmond Sumner, Royce O’Neale, Joe Harris, [Nic] Claxton and me. It’s not disrespect, but what are you expecting from that group?” Durant said, according to Bleacher Report. “You expect us to win because I’m out there. So if you’re watching from that lens, you’re expecting us to play well because No. 7 is out there.

While it might be fair that Durant is carrying the team, it’s not always a good look to outright say that to the media. It remains to be seen how this quote will impact the Nets’ locker room.
