Kevin Durant

It’s safe to say that Kevin Durant has not had the best luck with injuries this season. Just one week after returning to the court after suffering a knee injury back in January, Kevin Durant suffered another injury that could keep him out for the remainder of the regular season. And the latest injury appears to be just a freak accident.

Kevin Durant was set to make his home-court debut for the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night after he was traded to the team as part of a blockbuster deal last month. But just before the game, Durant suffered an ankle injury when he slipped during warmups.

Phoenix Suns reporter Kellan Olson of Empire of the Suns captured Durant’s injury on video. As the video shows, Durant simply rolled his left ankle when he went up for a layup during warmups.

The injury ultimately kept Durant out of the lineup on Wednesday night, and it looks like it could sideline him for the rest of the NBA regular season and the start of the playoffs after the Arizona Republic reports that there’s concern within the organization that he suffered a grade 2 ankle sprain.

Given the reported severity of the incident, the video of Durant’s injury has since gone viral on social media.

It’s an unfortunate accident for Durant that could cost him the rest of the regular season.
