This dunk ended very poorly for Klay Thompson.

The Golden State Warriors’ victory tour fell on its face Saturday. Or, more accurately, Warriors’ shooting guard Klay Thompson fell almost on his face when he tried to pull off a 360-degree dunk during a trip to China. Here’s the video:

The best part is how quickly the announcer goes from shock to laughter after Thompson gets rejected by the rim. Thompson was able to get up and show that he was okay, but even before that, everyone was laughing at him. The idea here wasn’t bad, but the execution just didn’t work at all, and it wound up being rather embarrassing for Thompson. Of course, it may be at least partly about him arriving only a few hours earlier after flight delays. Good for him for still trying to put on a show, even though it didn’t work at all.

Thompson was in China to promote Anta’s shoes; he’s their top current player (others include Rajon Rondo and Chandler Parsons, and they also have deals with Kevin Garnett and Manny Pacquiao). Here’s him signing for Anta later:

Still, this particular video isn’t going to serve as much of an endorsement. No one out there wants their dunks to wind up like Thompson’s did. However, at least he still has his 22.3 points-per-game average from this season, his NBA contract ($15.5 million annually), and his two championship rings. Missing one dunk at a sponsorship event isn’t all that bad next to that, but it did give the internet a lot to laugh about. Maybe Thompson should stick to three-point shooting demonstrations.
