The New York Knicks are preparing for their first-round playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks. However, the franchise, which is no stranger to dealing with outside noise surrounding its owner, is doing so once again.

On Friday, the popular investigative sports journalism podcast Pablo Torre Finds Out had a shocking report on Knicks owner James Dolan.

“There’s this one teenager in Colorado, who said something on Twitter, and [Madison Square Garden chief security officer John C. Eversole] and the Madison Square Garden security staff went into freak out mode, and they actually called the local cops on this kid,” Wired’s Noah Schactman said.

“So top-flight security, this team of people, they’re trying to hunt down critics of James Dolan all across America,” Pablo Torre responds.

“Yeah, we even got another text message about this,” Schactman continues, “and I’m quoting here, ‘at least they scared the crap – poop emoji – out of some 14-year-old kid in Colorado.’ One veteran of Madison Square Garden told me that Dolan would ‘come in and he and Eversole would come in and pore over all these social media comments about the Knicks and the Rangers.’

“What you’re saying is that James Dolan and his security guys, John C. Eversole, what they were doing was actually watching and reading and maybe constructing a dossier with your tweets in it to then make sure that you got put on a list,” Torre concludes.

It’s not the most shocking report, considering Dolan’s history of being a bit sensitive to criticisms, but it’s still wild to hear said aloud.
