Deputies and firefighters on the scene of the 2020 helicopter crash shot and shared photographs of the remains of Kobe Bryant and other victims. As a result, Vanessa Bryant is suing Los Angeles County for invasion of privacy. During the court proceedings, her lawyer made some shocking claims.
During the privacy trial, Vanessa Bryant’s lawyer attorney Luis Li told jurors that the cellphone photos shot at the crash scene were “visual gossip” viewed “for a laugh” and had no official purpose, according to ESPN.
“They were shared by deputies playing video games,” Li said. “They were shared repeatedly with people who had absolutely no reason to receive them.”
During the court proceedings, Li played jurors a security video of a deputy showing photos to a bartender, followed by an image of the men laughing together later.
“Jan. 26, 2020, was the worst day of Vanessa Bryant’s life. The county made it much worse,” Li said. “They poured salt in an open wound and rubbed it in.”
