Former NBA champion Kyle Kuzma has found himself in quite the pickle after he called out New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani on social media. Mamdani recently announced in an ultra-viral video on Twitter that although he has no legal authority to arrest Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli President is a war criminal.
Kuzma did not hold back in his assessment of what Mamdani is engaging in, saying that the mayor was “playing president” in a post on X.
“This is 2026. People cosplaying as things they don’t have the authority, the talent, or the track record to actually be. Just for content,” Kuzma posted.
“A mayor playing president. A founder playing operator. A content creator playing one-on-one thinking he’s a pro. A 25yr old with a ring light playing economist. Everyone auditioning. Nobody building. Were raising a generation that learning the reward isn’t in doing the thing it’s in looking like you did the thing. The clip is the career. The pose is the product. The soundbite is the substitute for a life’s work. Don’t fall for distractions.”

What Kuzma might not have been prepared for is the overwhelming response he received from fans.
“Bro please shut the f*ck up, you read a few books and made a few tech friends and now you think you’re the voice of anything. Just play basketball and live your rich life. Your commentary is not needed,” one fan posted on X.
“This is the most defence you’ve played in your whole career, shame it’s defending a war criminal,” another fan added.
“And you’re cosplaying as a basketball player,” someone else added.
Some fans even speculated that Kuzma has been using AI to write his recent X posts.
“Everyone knows you hired a ghostwriter recently. It’s very obvious lol. At least proofread what they send you first because this post screams AI. At the very least hire a better ghostwriter,” one such fan wrote.
Kuzma went on to address the criticism with a sarcastic post.

Kuz may want to refocus on winning basketball games after failing to make the playoffs last season with the Milwaukee Bucks, especially since Milwaukee traded its best player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, to the Miami Heat this offseason.
