Kyrie Irving is wasting no time diving into the NBA free agency pool.
The eight-time All-Star guard is reportedly set to meet with six NBA teams as free agency officially begins at 6 p.m. (ET) Friday.
According the CBS Sports’ Bill Reiter, Irving will meet with the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns. There will be a mix of in-person and remote meetings.
The Lakers and Mavericks talks might be the most interesting of that group. There has been speculation throughout the season that Irving might be headed to the Lakers to reunite with former teammate LeBron James. More recently, a report surfaced that Irving might be trying to recruit James to join him with the Mavericks.
However, the most likely scenario among analysts is that Irving returns to the Mavericks, who acquired him in February in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets.
The 31-year-old Irving carries some well-known distractions with him, but remains undeniably talented. He averaged 27.1 points, 5.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game last season and is a career 39.1% 3-point shooter.
NBA fans had mixed thoughts on Irving’s quick dive into free agency.

That’s cool. I hope he finds a place he fits. I wish it wasn’t a big market. Tired of the hate he gets.
