There was no way that things would be good for the Los Angeles Lakers coming out of Friday night’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. But a win would have at least moved them to 1-4, which looks a heck of a lot better than 0-5. It wasn’t in the cards for Los Angeles.
The Lakers were on the wrong side of a 111-102 final. The game was tied at halftime but the Timberwolves took control in the second half and went to post a victory. LeBron James led the Lakers with 28 points but was largely inefficient, shooting 10-for-24 from the field and 1-of-6 on threes. Russell Westbrook scored 17 points coming off the bench but also struggled with his shot, shooting 6-for-17 on field goals, 1-for-4 on threes, and 5-for-10 on free throws.
Unsurprisingly, the Lakers didn’t get any sympathy from the fans in Minnesota, who serenaded them with “0-5” chants in the game’s final moments.

And Los Angeles is not simply an 0-5 team. The Lakers are the NBA’s only 0-5 team, though the 0-4 Sacramento Kings could join that dubious group on Saturday night.
Much like the fans in Minneapolis, the NBA world was not kind to the 0-5 Lakers.
The Lakers are 0-5. The franchise’s first 0-5 start since the 2014 season. Pathetic.

Flea, of Red Hot Chilli Peppers fame, recently made a plea for the Lakers to give LeBron more help, hoping to see the all-time legend return to the postseason after the team missed it last year. There’s a lot of basketball left to be played and plenty of time to turn things around. But right now, that’s looking like a pipedream. The Lakers are losing and right now, it seems like they Can’t Stop.
