LeBron James got a little bit more than he bargained for after a collision with Nikola Jokić during Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals on Thursday.

James was defending the Denver Nuggets superstar and knocked the ball loose. As James went to chase down the loose ball, Jokić grabbed him. LeBron recently said that he is not a flopper and that’s not something the Los Angeles Lakers work on. Either he was doing some fibbing, or LeBron legitimately fell backward several feet and slid several more feet into the first row of Denver’s Ball Arena. In either case, he actually was fouled.

But when LeBron slid into the crowd, he slid into a fan that was holding a drink. That contact led to some of the drink being spilled on LeBron.

When James sat up, the fan handed him a towel — a gesture LeBron clearly appreciated — as he responded with a polite, “Thank you.”

Basketball fans had a lot of things — usually very funny things — to say about the entire sequence.

James narrowly missed a triple-double, finishing the game with 22 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. But the Nuggets staged a second-half comeback to win the game 108-103, taking a 2-0 lead in the series.
