The Los Angeles Lakers are currently outside of the NBA Playoffs race with just a 27-32 record this season. But it sounds like LeBron James is making it his mission to turn the season around and lead his squad to the playoffs this season.

LeBron James called the next 23 games the most important regular season games of his career as he and his team try to clinch a spot in the postseason.

“It’s 23 of the most important games of my career, for a regular season,” James said before Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game, according to ESPN. “It’s the type of mindset that I have, and I hope the guys will have, coming back off the break.”

If the Lakers are unable to make the playoffs yet again, it would be the first time in James’ career that he missed the playoffs two seasons in a row. And he does not want that to happen.

“I want to make a push to make the playoffs,” James said. “I don’t want to see myself not being part of the postseason for two years straight. It’s just not part of my DNA. We’re sitting up here talking about the [scoring] record and things of that nature, and that’s all cool, but I’m more passionate about trying to make the postseason and give ourselves a chance to compete for another Larry O’Brien Trophy. That’s just who I am. That’s what I’m cut from.”

It’s clear that James is doing everything he can to get his team to the postseason, averaging a team-high 30 points per game. But we’ll have to see if it’s enough.
