Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s latest endorsement is a big one. On Sunday evening, Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James officially endorsed Clinton for president in an op-ed with Business Insider.

In a heartfelt letter, James talked about growing up poor and how basketball shaped his life. He candidly discussed his ongoing priority in offering support and opportunity for kids in Akron, Ohio. James stated Clinton was the only candidate in this year’s election who understood the struggles of his community.

“When I look at this year’s presidential race, it’s clear which candidate believes the same thing. Only one person running truly understands the struggles of an Akron child born into poverty. And when I think about the kinds of policies and ideas the kids in my foundation need from our government, the choice is clear.

That candidate is Hillary Clinton.”

James’ endorsement might not seem like a huge deal, but as Business Insider notes, Ohio is a key swing state where Donald Trump currently holds a small lead. James has a lot of clout in Ohio and his endorsement might just swing the vote enough. The defending NBA Finals MVP didn’t need to make his political opinions public, but felt it was necessary to ensure the potential president-elect understands what’s important to him.

Clinton should be thrilled with the endorsement. She’s locked in notable endorsements from stars in the basketball world such as Grant Hill, Steph Curry, Carmelo Anthony, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. James’ endorsement is the most important yet.

At least Donald Trump has Scott Baio.
