The NBA drama is never-ending, and this upcoming one will almost certainly be defined by what happens with the league’s all-time leading scorer, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James.
Many fans and pundits around the league are expecting next season to be James’s last, and to go on a farewell tour. The Cleveland Cavaliers, the franchise that drafted James, would allow the superstar a great chance to end his career with one final NBA title.
However, it was previously reported that the Cavs are hamstrung in the contract that they could offer James.
“The Cavaliers are only able to offer LeBron James a minimum contract, per (Brian Windhorst),” NBA Central reported on Twitter.
However, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald has reported that James has a preferred method of reuniting with the Cavs, and while Cleveland’s limited flexibility makes things complicated, it’s been confirmed as a viable alternative to a minimum contract.
Per Jackson, James wants to find his way to Cleveland via a sign-and-trade this offseason.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“That would be absolute best case scenario for the Lakers but don’t see it happening,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“This would be the optimal result IMO for all parties,” someone else added.
“Bron needs to come back on the minimum, like your a millionaire you’ll be fine bro,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if James gets his fairy tale ending on Lake Erie.
