lebron james-cleveland cavaliers

As they have for much of the postseason, LeBron James and his Cavaliers teammates showed up in matching suits Thursday for Game 1 of the NBA Finals at Oracle Arena. But while most of the players wore the suits as they were intended to be worn — like regular suits — LeBron (and also Jordan Clarkson!) put his own spin on the outfit, pairing the coat and tie with shorts that cut off above the knee.

And because this is LeBron James, because this is the NBA and because that outfit was frankly ridiculous, there were plenty of jokes to be made. Pleeeeenty of jokes.

Some Twitter users suggested that LeBron’s outfit would make the Cavs less likely to beat the Warriors on Thursday night or in the Finals overall…

Others invoked AC/DC…

Cavs coach Ty Lue offered a no-comment…

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said to ask him after the game…

ESPN’s Mina Kimes managed to turn LeBron’s sartorial choice into a (tongue in cheek) metaphor about his career vs. Michael Jordan’s.

But of all the tweets about LeBron’s suit-shorts combo, none beat this one.

Cavs-Warriors tips off at 9 p.m. ET, in case you forgot there was an actual basketball game to play.
