The Chicago Bulls received some devasting news Thursday when it was announced that Lonzo Ball will have a third surgery on his knee which will sideline him indefinitely
“The organization is behind him, and he has our full support,” the team said in a press release according to TMZ Sports. “Our training and medical staff continue their commitment to Lonzo’s rehabilitation and to working with him throughout this next phase to ensure his healthy return to basketball.”
Ball will have a cartilage transplant procedure, naturally, the NBA star is frustrated.
“This has been a frustrating process, but I’m confident these next steps are the best path forward. The support of my family, friends, fans, and medical staff throughout my recovery is what keeps me moving forward. I can’t wait to get back to what I love doing most – playing basketball.”
There are concerns about Ball’s ability to resume his career and hopes that this surgery — which could cost Ball another full season away — will give him a pathway to play again, sources said. ESPN reported last week that Ball was weighing procedure. https://t.co/vjTLR8MBHq

This is Ball’s third surgery in less than a two-year span. Ball hasn’t played for the team since January of last year and there are concerns that his career still could be over, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
The surgery could also keep him out next year as well. The Bulls have struggled without Ball and may be in danger of missing the Eastern Conference Playoffs this year.
