The 2024 NBA Finals will tip off on Thursday evening in Boston. The Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks will tussle for the coveted Larry O’Brien trophy in what should be an excellent series. There are stars all over the floor, but one ESPN pundit thinks it’s clear who has the best player.

Adrian Wojnarowski, the most prominent NBA insider, joined ESPN’s Get Up on Thursday to help preview the 2024 Finals. During the show, the panel discussed what the most important factor in the series is.

Woj was crystal clear with how he felt. The believes that Dallas has the best player, and his name is Luka Dončić.

“Usually he does. The Celtics, their talent is overwhelming at every position. They are deep, talented, they have stars, they have great role players, but the best player in the series plays for the Dallas Mavericks: Luka Dončić,” Wojnarowski said. “And he can control the last six, seven minutes a game unlike almost anybody else except for Nikola Jokic.”

Dončić’s playmaking prowess has made him one of the best players in the NBA. But a title could help tip the scales. Others have already suggested that a championship would mean he’d get the ‘Best in the World’ label. The more that thought continues to purvey, the likelier it is to happen if the Mavs win.

It won’t be an easy task though, of course. But nothing at this point is supposed to be.
