Sometimes you hear about a sports injury — a blister maybe or even a broken finger — and think to yourself, “That doesn’t sound so bad.” Other times, as with Manu Ginobili’s latest injury, it’s the opposite.

Ginobili will miss at least a month after undergoing surgery Thursday for a testicle injury he suffered Wednesday night. The injury was initially reported as a “groin injury,” but the team got more specific today.

Ginobili is averaging a career-low 19.7 minutes per game this season, and his 10-per-game scoring average is the lowest its been since his rookie seasn. Still, the 41-8 Spurs will miss their sixth man as he recovers from this testicular issue. We’ll see if Ginobili stays with the team as he recovers, but it sounds like sitting on the bench could be a little bit painful.

Ginobili has not played in more than 70 games in a season since 2010-11.
