The NBA has a new drug testing policy now in place.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, NBA players will no longer be prohibited from using marijuana under the new seven-year Collective Bargaining Agreement. It’s been removed from the anti-drug testing program, a process that began during the 2019-20 season.

Under the new policy, NBA players will no longer be tested for that substance, which probably comes as good news for a lot of players who use it on a regular basis.
The question now is, with such a major announcement, will other leagues like the NFL follow the NBA’s lead?
The NFL might follow suit because the only reason they continue with their anti-weed policy is because of the collective bargaining agreement. But if the NFLPA wants its drug policy to change like the NBA, they are going to have to give up something.
What that is? Who knows but you better believe it’s probably going to be something big. The bigger question is, are the players willing to give up something to get something?
Marijuana has been proven to have many positive medicinal purposes, which is why NFL players might be willing to fight hard to change the NFL drug policy. But we’ll see if the owners are on board.
