The Dallas Mavericks have big expectations for No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg heading into his rookie season in the NBA in the 2025-26 NBA season. But for now, Flagg will not be taking part in any more Summer League games for the organization after showing off all of his talents in an impressive way on Saturday night.
Flagg didn’t have the kind of Summer League debut most were hoping from him earlier this week, scoring just 10 points while making just 5 of his 21 shot attempts in the game. In fact, Flagg went as far as calling the game “one of the worst games” of his life.
However, his second Summer League game on Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs was an entirely different story. Flagg showed exactly why he went into the 2025 NBA Draft as one of the most hyped up prospects in recent memory, scoring 31 points in a losing effort.
While NBA fans certainly want to see more from Flagg after his breakout game on Saturday, the Mavericks have seemingly seen enough from their star rookie. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Mavericks will shut down Flagg for the remainder of the Summer League.

Flagg is far from the only top pick to see limited opportunities in the Summer League, as it is largely seen as an opportunity for fringe G-League players more than a platform where someone like Flagg would see extended playing time.
Clearly, Flagg has all the upside in the world to help make an already established Mavericks team a true contender next season. So it’s safe to say that all eyes will continue to be on Flagg by the time the 2025-26 NBA season kicks off.
