The Miami Heat reached an astonishing feat on Tuesday night. In their 112-111 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Heat hit a mark that nobody has ever hit before in NBA history.

Miami drew a ton of free throw attempts on the night. 40, to be precise. The team’s average is under 22, so this was an extraordinary performance. And Miami made good on that. They didn’t miss a single free-throw attempt all night. Jimmy Butler led the way, making 23-of-23 attempts from the charity stripe.

StatMuse tweeted, “Miami Heat tonight: 40 free throw attempts, 40 free throw makes. The most free throws in a game on 100 F%% in NBA history.”

Miami’s win over OKC rose them up to 22-20 on the season. They’re on a bit of a run of late, with wins in six of their last nine games.

The NBA world reacted to the remarkable feat.

LegionHoops called their performance “unbelievable.”

“The Miami Heat have broken the NBA record for most free-throws made by a team without a miss with 40-40 made. Unbelievable,” they tweeted.

Matt Winer said, “The Miami Heat winning recipe tonight: Bailing wire, duct tape and free throws…”

The Heat themselves pointed out that the win came at the free-throw line as well! “Broke the NBA record by going a perfect 40-40 at the free throw line. Fitting way to end the game,” they tweeted.

And BetOnline took time to think of those who bet Miami -1.5. On a one-point game. Ouch. “The short-handed Heat pour a 40 out for the Thunder and anyone who had Miami -1.5 as they make an NBA record 40 free throws without a miss and beat the Thunder by 1, 112-111,” they tweeted.
