United States President Donald Trump has had a shocking second term in office, with many criticizing the treatment of immigrants under his administration, including NBA legend Charles Barkley.

“…the way some of these other immigrants are getting treated in our country right now is a travesty and a disgrace,” Barkley said, while covering the NCAA tournament for TBS.

“I think there’ s a difference between amazing immigrants and criminal immigrants. And I think what’s gone on in our country and what we’re doing to some of these amazing immigrants is really unfortunate, and it’s really sad.

“And that’s a great immigrant story, and we have a lot of great immigrant stories out there … but some of the things that’s happening in our country to immigrants now is really unfortunate, and it’s really unfair. But immigrants built this country, and we should admire them and respect them.”

Shockingly, another former NBA player has been a fan of how Trump’s adiminstration has handled immigration.

“What President Trump is doing, first of all, I love what he’s done so far for our country. I think he’s helped our country a lot,” former NBA champion Tristan Thompson said during an appearance on the Katie Miller Podcast.

“In terms of where he stands with, I think…I’m a firm believer because I have family members and I have people that are immigrants. I believe for those that do the thing the right way and get the papers, I think they should be taken care of first and foremost.”

People reacted to Thompson on social media.

“He’s not even from America… why would anybody be taking political advice from someone who can’t even vote,” one person wrote on Twitter.

“Tristan Thompson is really the definition of ‘I got mine, now close the door.’ A Canadian citizen who made millions in the U.S. telling other immigrants they need to ‘do it the right way’ while the rules change every week is a wild take. Is he being realistic or just pulling up the ladder behind him? ibr, the irony is loud,” someone else added.

“This dude is not paying for gas nor does he have any children in the armed forces. People above 400k yearly income are in a different world than those below. Influencers will not be able to tell others what their reality i,” another fan added.

It’s certainly an interesting take for an immigrant to have.
