Spencer Dinwiddie spent five seasons playing for the Brooklyn Nets. On Wednesday — as a member of the Dallas Mavericks — he gave the Nets and their fans a taste of what they’re missing. And it was a bitter taste.

The Nets had a one-point lead in the final seconds, but Dallas had possession. Luka Dončić got the ball, which drew two Brooklyn defenders. Dončić then kicked the ball over the Dinwiddie, who nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Dallas the win.

Dinwiddie beating his former team at the buzzer had both Nets and Mavericks fans — as well as the rest of the NBA world — talking.

And if you felt you’ve seen this recently, you’re right — sort of.

While it wasn’t a buzzer-beater, Dinwiddie also hit the winning shot in Dallas’ last game. He drained a three-pointer to give the Mavericks a 95-92 lead in the final seconds of Sunday’s game with the Boston Celtics.

That stood as the final score.

In fact, while the winner against the Nets was the first buzzer-beater of Dinwiddie’s career, he’s made a habit of hitting big shots in the final seconds.

The Mavericks’ east coast road trip will continue on Saturday with a game against the Philadelphia 76ers. If the game is close late, the 76ers would be best advised to keep a close eye on Dinwiddie.

That goes for the rest of Dallas’ opponents this season, as well.
