Brooklyn Nets center Nic Claxton has had a miserable Monday night from the charity stripe in a must-win Game 4 — the Nets trail the series 3-0 — against the Boston Celtics.

Claxton missed his first 10 free throws, breaking Shaquille O’Neal’s record for most free throws missed to start a playoff game (O’Neal went 0-for-8 to start a playoff game in 2006).

After starting 0-for-10, Claxton — who shot 58.1% from the line in the regular season — finally made a free throw, and he heard loud cheers from the Brooklyn crowd.

While Claxton’s free-throw shooting (1-for-11) has been a disaster in Game 4, he’s been very effective otherwise in the game. With just over eight minutes remaining, he’s 6-for-6 from the field, and has six rebounds and six blocks.
